Ronnie L. Young

Ronnie L. Young, 79, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024 in his home following a brief illness. He was born October 23, 1944 in Anderson, a son of the late Printes and Pauline (Lawler) Young.

A 1962 graduate of Markleville High School, Ronnie worked at General Motors (Guide Lamp) in Anderson for 38 years and was a member of the UAW Local #663.  Following retirement, he worked for the City of New Castle at South Mound Cemetery for over 10 years.

A former member of the Evening Optimist Club, Ronnie coached Little League baseball and Optimist Basketball for many years. A quiet man and usually in the background, he was always fully supportive of his family’s endeavors, attending every function involving his children and grandchildren he possibly could.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 57 years, Sheila Young of New Castle; a son, Tony (Jodi) Young of New Castle; a daughter, Angela Mayhugh of Anderson; grandchildren, Amanda Jo Young of New Castle, Keldyn Leigh Young (Eli Pierson) of New Castle; Dawsyn Gene Young of New Castle, Brittenee (Cody) Chism of Anderson; special buddies, Jim Mayhugh of Anderson and Delmar Clontz of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Jo Young in 2014; a sister, Karen Stone; and in laws, Eugene and Dortha Sexton.

Services will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service.
