Roscoe T. Slavey, age 67, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. He was born October 4, 1946 in Oneida, Tennessee to the late Theodore and Virginia (Stephens) Slavey.
He retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation Highway Department following 25 years of service. Roscoe loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing, collecting pocket knives, and diecast cars. He loved his dogs, Maggie and Teddy. He was a very generous man who loved his family very much.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Ellen (Williams) Slavey; children, Kimberly (David) Custer of Pendleton, Brian (Gina) Slavey of New Castle, and Jason Slavey of IL; two step-sons, Paul "Rich" (Barbara) Jeffries of Greenwood and Jim (Melissa) Jeffries of New Castle; eleven grandchildren, Bobby Slavey, Kayla Wilkinson, Dylan Wilkinson, Devon Custer, Corey Slavey, Brandon Wilkinson, Katy Clark, Jimmy Jeffries, Kaitlyn Custer, Cassidy Slavey and Drake Custer; one great grandson, Bentley Kaufman of New Castle; siblings, James Slavey, Shirley Raines and Robert Slavey; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend David Perry officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at the funeral home.
