Rowena R. Kirk, 49, of New Castle, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 24, 2014 while at Ball I.U. Hospital in Muncie. Rowena fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 18, 1965 in Molene, Illinois, a daughter of Russell and Janet (Emigh) Wilson.
She was a 1983 graduate of Union Bible College and Academy in Westfield, IN. A very loving wife and mother, Rowena devoted much of her time and energy into homeschooling her children. Music was her passion! An accomplished pianist and vocalist, she led worship at Memorial Wesleyan Church, where she and her husband presently pastored. Wise and selfless, Rowena always saw the good in people. She loved and served God with an unfailing zeal.
Rowena also enjoyed herb gardening, flowers, baking, house-keeping, reading, and Bible studies. A lover of the outdoors, she was always ready for a hike, even up until the past month.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 28 years, Pastor Paul D. Kirk of New Castle, whom she married November 28, 1986; three children, Paul (Bethany) Kirk of Indianapolis, Caleb (Brooke) Kirk of Richmond and Kara Kirk of New Castle; parents, Russell and Janet Wilson of Duncansville, PA; sisters, Robin Wilson of Duncansville, PA, Kathleen (Greg) Waggoner of Colorado Springs, CO, and Melody Wilson of Duncansville, PA; in-laws, William and Linda Kirk of Marshalltown, IA; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at Memorial Wesleyan Church with Pastors Mark Wooten and Rex Keaton officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition in New Castle. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
