Russell Edward Dellinger, 78, of New Castle passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born December 28, 1945 in New Castle to the late Jacob and Clara (Snyder) Dellinger.
Russell worked and retired from the Chrysler plant in New Castle. He was known by many for his jokes and his happy go lucky attitude. Russell made many friends over the years from work and the Senior Center, but he was mostly known for his time at the Roller-Skating Rinks. He skated for over sixty years at Gibson Arena, Muncie Gibson Arena and many rinks in Ohio. His favorite rink was Piqua 36 in Ohio. At the rinks, Russell was known as “Pops”. He will forever be remembered as the coolest skater in the world.
Russell is survived by his daughter, Melissa Dellinger (Brian) Amonett; grandchildren, Ashley (Dylan) Cheesman, Tyler, Alyssa and Derek; brother, Tom Dellinger; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with burial to follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at The Rink, New Castle Skate Center, 406 N. Memorial Drive New Castle.
