Ruth (Ison) Howell, age 89, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at her residence. She was born October 30, 1919 in Lutcher County, Kentucky to the late John D. and Virgie Lee (Gilley) Ison.
She retired from the State Hospital after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Shriners, White Star of Jeruselum and Esther Shrine #14. She has resided in Henry County since 1949.
Survivors include her son: Jackie D. Howell of Cadiz; six grandsons: Terry, Gary Greathouse, Tony, Troy, Jim and Jeff Howell; three great grandchildren; brothers: Wayne and Willie D. Ison of Freetown, IN and Gaye Ison of Columbus, IN; a sister: Deola (husband: Elmo) Day of Whitesburg, KY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Howell; daughter: Angelina Greathouse; son: Kermit Eugene Howell; brothers: Bobby, Marion, Jack and Bill Ison; sisters: Geniece Day and Ruby Frances.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
