Ruth E. Love, 85, of New Castle passed away Friday night, April 8, 2022 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. She was born February 4, 1937 in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late Marion Willard and Mary Margaret (Caldwell) Futrell.
Ruth was a 1954 graduate of New Castle High School. She was a 60 year member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as Treasurer for 24 years and was on the Board of Trustees. Ruth had worked at Consumers Ice & Fuel for 20 years, as their bookkeeper. She had also worked at Edwards & Edwards Tax Accounting for 10 tax seasons. Ruth was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, sewing & bowling. She enjoyed movies and watching sunsets from her 3-season room. Ruth had a passion for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She was an Indianapolis 500 fan, following the time trials and race.
Survivors include stepchildren, Connie Kay Packard, Indianapolis, Tom Frederick Detmer of Indianapolis, Kathleen Alice (Skip) Kaucher of New Palestine and Michael Dean (Patti) Love of Ammon, Idaho; daughter in law, Vivian Paulette Justice (Paul Sackmann) of Nashville; sisters-in-law, Janie Futrell of Covington, Kentucky and Dianne Stephens of New Castle; grandchildren, Stacy (Clay), Edward Aaron (Andrea), Jason (Angie), Joshua (Megan), Nyssa (Twan) and Chase; eleven great grandchildren; nieces, Dawn (Matt) Stancheck, Mary Ellen (Jason) Richardson and Lynn Futrell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Edward Ivan Justice, Myrle Fredrick Detmer and Paul Dean Love; son, Edward Ivan Justice Jr.; great grandson, Braydon Edward Garland; brother, Mark Ervin Futrell; and a niece, Katrina Futrell Willhite.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, Suburban Hospice in Greenfield and Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church in New Castle with Rev. Rod Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the church, with funeral services to follow. Burial will be private at South Mound Cemetery.
