Ruth Lillian Hughes Wilson, 86, of Greensboro, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011. She was born January 20, 1925 in Randolph County, Indiana, a daughter of Perry and Mary (Russell) Russell.
Ruth was a resident of Greensboro since 1963. She was a member of South Memorial Church of God in New Castle and a member of UAW #317. She enjoyed ceramics and participating in bowling leagues at Rose Bowl.
She is survived by daughters, Susan “Susie” J. (Larry) Hacker of Greenwood and Patty (husband: Montie) Hale of Greenfield; a son, Larry R. (wife: Marianne) Hughes of Greensboro; four sisters, Bettie Jordan of Anderson, Marie Adkins and Barbara Young of Union City, and Catherine Gaylor of Anderson; a brother Dale Russell of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Stacy Kirkpatrick of Greenfield, Dana Beth Elliott of Noblesville, Travis Hale of Terre Haute, Melissa Vaughn of Fortville, Marcie Hale of Greenfield and Larry Hughes Jr. of Greenwood; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Perry and Mary Russell; husband, Colbert H. Hughes; a son, William “Bill” Hughes; a grandson, Jeff Hughes and sisters, Frances Lucille Hoffman and Waneta Peg Shepherd.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Curt Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.
