Sammie Lee Hudson

Sammie Lee Hudson, age 82, of Markleville, passed Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Muncie. He was born June 18, 1931 in Madison County, Indiana to the late Orvis “Bill” and Bertha A. (Ray) Hudson.
A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean War. He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson following 42 years of service and was a member of UAW 662. Sammie enjoyed woodworking and reading.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Illie “Jane” (Neal) Hudson of Markleville; a daughter, Hope Ashleigh (Jesse) Diaz; two grandsons, Jonathan and Tyler Diaz; two sisters, Barbara Hassig of Joliet, IL and Shirley Silvey; brother-in-law, Rillie Neal; sisters-in-law, Donna Hudson, Laurabelle Hudson, Dorothy Dunn, Dixie Spurlock, Esther Taylor and Sonja Wilkinson; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, James and Wayne (Elaine) Hudson; brothers-in-law, Ray and Oliver Neal, Claude Hall, Ewell Spurlock and Floyd K. Dunn; sisters-in-law, Ina Hall, Belva Brummett, Joann Neal and Joan Neal.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by an active United States Army contingent and the local VFW and American Legion.
