Sharlene K. King, 67, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie after a brief illness. She was born August 1, 1942 in New Castle the daughter of Roy H. and Mary Louise (Macy) Bovender.
She was a 1960 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School. She was employed by Boxwood Nursing Home, Henry County Memorial Hospital, New Castle State Hospital and Cardinal Service Mgt, where she was involved with Special Olympics for many years, before her retirement in 2005.
Sharlene enjoyed going to her granddaughters winter guard and band competitions, as well as watching her grandsons play baseball at the high school level as well as little league. The past few years she was involved with the Little League concession stand which she enjoyed very much.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter: Dawn King of New Castle; a son: Brad (wife: Kellie) King of New Castle; three grandchildren: Conner, BrieAnna and Spencer King; a brother: Mike Bovender of New Castle; a sister: Lynn Agee of Anderson, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sharlene was preceded in death by both parents.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
