Sharon Kay Herran, 65, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in her home. She was born April 5, 1946 in Jasonville, IN, a daughter of the late James Kenneth and Mildred (Tuttle) Gallion.
She recently retired from the Ice House in New Castle after 5 years of service. She had worked at various jobs in the New Castle community. She was a member of the VFW, Moose Lodge, and American Legion. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her home. A very giving, loving, thoughtful and unselfish person, Sharon loved to laugh and spend time with her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 46 years, Jeff Herran of New Castle; a daughter, Darlene Herran/Griffin (husband, Ted) of New Castle, grandchildren, Kenneth James (Ashley Brooke) Herran of New Castle; Katelyn Pearl Cooper of Straughn, Curtis Jeffrey Cooper of Straughn; one great-grandson, Jayce Ryan Herran; a sister, Linda (husband, John) McDonnell of Knoxville, TN; brothers-in-law, Don Herran of New Castle, Randy, Ronnie and Mark Riggs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harm and Pearl Gallion and Rebba Riggs, a special niece, Stephanie Herran.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Friends may call from 12-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
