Sheila Lynn Oliver

Sheila Lynn Oliver, 68, gained her angel wings on May 22, 2024 at her home. Sheila was born April 6, 1956 in New Castle, IN to the late Herbert and Mary Dicken Witham.

Sheila was a 1974 graduate of Tri Jr./Sr. High School. After high school, she began working at the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Childrens Home, where she served as a loving house parent for 28 years. In retirement, she enjoyed working in home care. Sheila loved reading, watching the soaps, and playing with her precious cat, Callie. She loved being with her family and friends, and enjoyed going to all of the family get togethers.

She is survived by two brothers, Bill (Wanda) Witham of Lewisville and Gary (Vickie) Witham of Spiceland; five sisters, Ruby (Myron) Shook of Alexandria, Wanda Hinshaw of New Castle, Opie Effinger of Long Beach, California, Diann Hitchcock of New Castle and Gail Coleman of New Castle; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her former husband, David Oliver, who she loved dearly and enjoyed all of their Jamaican vacations and outings. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Witham; sisters, Sue South and Helen Hensley; a niece and nephew; and several brothers and sisters in law.

Services will be held 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Lewisville Cemetery. The service will be live streamed for those who cannot attend. Visitation will be from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Society at 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
