On February 22, 2025, Shelly Rillaerts, loving wife, mother, and Oma, passed away at the age of 58.

Shelly was born on July 27, 1966, in New Castle, Indiana to Delmar G. and Jane (Chesher) McCaslin. Shelly spent her childhood and school-age years in New Castle, IN. In 2009, Shelly received her RN from Ivy Tech Community College in Muncie, IN.

Shelly was a wonderful nurse who specialized in geriatric care. Shelly worked for over 20 years in the nursing field. She loved bowling and participated in leagues at Rose Bowl. Spending time with her family was her favorite past time. She loved watching crime shows and baking banana bread with her grandkids.

 Shelly’s love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered.

 Shelly is survived by her husband of 26 years, Jean Rillaerts of Ocklawaha, her daughters, Denise (Drew Lyons) Johnson of Melbourne, FL and Tiffany (Adam) Jones of Lynn, IN, her stepson, Sidney (Atami) Rillaerts of Belgium, her grandchildren Britney Johnson and Jackson Lyons of Melbourne, FL, Kaleigh Hamilton, Addison Jones, and Parker Jones of Lynn, IN. She also leaves behind her brothers, Kelly (Evelyn) McCaslin of New Castle and Delmar (Sherri) McCaslin Jr, of Pershing; nieces and nephews, Sigfrid (Melissa) Smith of Blountsville and Melissa (Tyson) Hethcox of Mooreland, Arron (Brandon) Sample, Kyle Palsgrove, Austin (Amber) Roberts, and Joshua Pauwels; she greatly loved her great nieces and nephews, Brittany (Omar) Farret, Sabre (Jack) Lynch, both of Blountsville; Ethan Hethcox of New Castle, Malachi Smith, Micah Smith, and Simon Smith, both of Blountsville; the father of her children, Duane Evans; as well as many, many more friends and family.

Shelly was preceded in death by her father, Delmar G. McCaslin Sr, mother, E. Jane (Chesher) McCaslin, sister Linda McCaslin, brother, Michael McCaslin, grandson, Nikolas Johnson, as well as many aunts and uncles.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Ethan Hethcox officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be 4- 8 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2024, at the funeral home. Condolences and memories of Shelly may be shared at www.hinsey-brown.com.
