Shirley G. Poore, age 77 of New Castle, passed away, Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at IU Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. He was born June 3, 1937 in Kennard to the late Wilburn B. and Emogene (Martin) Poore.
He retired from Chrysler Corporation as a tool maker following 38 years of service and owned S.G. Poore Auctioneer for 36 years. He was a farmer most of his life. Shirley was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Spiceland and Losantville and the Eastern Star in Losantville. He was also a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club and the Auctioneer Associations. He attended Tennessee Poly Tech, Reppert Auction School and Missouri Appraisal School.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marjorie L. (Claar) Poore whom he married January 20, 1957; children, Suzanne (Dave) Shannon, Steven (Tawna) Poore, William Poore; grandchildren, B. Scott Nicholson, (fiancé, Susan Phipps), Marcia (David) King, Jessica Poore, Heather (Ryan) Mitchell; great grandchildren; step grandsons, Pog (Janis Mote) Shannon and Mike Shannon; two step great granddaughters; two step great grandsons; sister-in-law, Carolou Poore, nieces and nephews;.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Porter Poore and Windle Poore.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Castle with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Pastor Bill Chamberlin will be officiating. Burial will be in New Lisbon Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Masonic Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
