Stanley J. Selvidge, age 82, of Spiceland went to be with his Lord Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Regency Place of Greenfield. He was born May 10, 1926 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Charles and Susie (Alexander) Selvidge.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He had worked for Stohler Farm Implements for several years, and retired from Carson Chemicals in New Castle. He was a dedicated member of Foursquare Church in New Castle. Stanley was a devoted husband and loved spending time with his family. He also loved tractors and enjoyed wood working.
Survivors include his wife: Margaret (Widner) Selvidge; two sons: Eugene D. (wife: Anna) Selvidge and Jerry Lee (wife: Sandy) Selvidge; a daughter: Jannie Jo (husband: Lee) Stone; grandchildren: Michelle (husband: Eric) Burkle, Sonja (husband: Bill) Thornburgh, Eric Selvidge, Misty (husband: Mike P.) Johnson, Lindsay Stone and Sam Stone, Joseph, Suzanne, Joshua and Sarah Selvidge; nine: great grandchildren; a sister: Polly (husband: Earl) Goodwin; two brothers: Jim (wife Evelyn) Selvidge and Forrest (wife Gloria) Selvidge.
Mr. Selvidge was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Selvidge and sister, Lois Jean Rutherford.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the funeral home.
