Stanley E. Wiley, 59, of New Castle, passed away Friday, June 08, 2012 at his home following a courageous 7 year battle with cancer, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 31, 1952 in Lancaster, KY, a son of the late Lewis E. and Mary E. (Honey) Wiley.
Stan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he very proudly served as a Navy Seabee. He served during the Vietnam Era, was stationed in Rhode Island, and helped build the dome at the South Pole. A lifelong member of the Seabee Veterans of America, he also started an island in New Castle, Island X-4, of which he was secretary. Stan was a member of the Seabee Museum of Davisville, RI, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge #71, and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in New Castle.
Motorcycles were Stan’s passion. He was an active member of ABATE Region 5, the Posse Riding Group of New Castle, and also a member of the Patriot Guard. He started Wiley Construction in 1989, which he continued to operate.
He is survived by his wife, Debi Wiley of New Castle; daughter, Melissa Murphy of New Castle; grandsons, Tyler and Dylan Blevins of New Castle; Bentley Welch of New Castle; sisters, Joyce Ann Honey of Erie, PA, Juanita (husband, Leroy) Orcutt of Aurora, IN, Mary Lee (husband, Gene) Guffey of London, KY, Louise Craig, and Vicki Blevins, both of New Castle; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jon Wiley; sister, Rose Wiley; brothers, James (Nettie Mae) Wiley and Willie “Gidget” Wiley, and a brother-in-law, Kendall Craig.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Frank Wood officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
