Stella Louise Brown

Stella Louise Brown, 77, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025. She was born September 8, 1947 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Johnny and Elizabeth (Dicken) Burchett. 

She loved playing softball, fishing, flowers, gardening, shopping, going to the casino and being outdoors. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She was known for her outspoken, tell-it-like-I-see-it personality. Stella was a past member of the VFW, American Legion and Eagles.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Kim) Williams, Rachel (Alan) Smith, Jackie Brown and Clinton (Kaleigh) Brown; grandchildren, Mallory (AJ) Roush, Audrey Williams, Jacy (Justin) Kirk, Gabrielle Williams, Alex Smith, Hannah (Zach) Henderson, Cassidy Smith, Grace Smith, Jacob Brown, Chad (Liz) Brown, Shawn (Taylor) Brown, Grant, Gavin and Evelyn Brown; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Dottie Pope, Jean McLaughlin and Doug Burchett; sister-in-law Denise Burchett; her caretaker and friend, Wanda Ford and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James "Jig" Brown; son, Steven Brown; grandson, Christopher Smith; and her siblings, Frankie Coleen Marcum, Mary Watson, Frances Frost, Junita Deram, Laure Tallent, Elaman Reed, Suwannee Maradeth, Irene Peregin, Bertha Stone, Lewis, Jeff, James, Bill, Charles and Donnie Burchett.

Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the funeral home.
