Sue J. Foster, 67, of New Castle, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 in Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born January 7, 1944 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Jessie H. and Maude (Decker) Silvers.
A member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church for over 62 years, she was known for her singing voice, and playing the accordion. Her church was her life. She sang and traveled with The Rainbows during the 1970’s and she and her husband, the late Rev. Kenny Foster, evangelized throughout the states during the 1980’s.
Hosting Christmas dinners for her entire family and decorating for Christmas was a great joy to her. All her nieces and nephews, to whom she was a mother figure, called her “Boo”.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Melissa Foster of New Castle; her sister, Rochella Flynn of New Castle; nieces and nephews, Jesse (Verna) Flynn, Rhonda (Joe) Schetgen, and Bruce “Buck” (Angie) Flynn, all of New Castle; great nieces and nephews, Mike (Misty) Schetgen, Amee (Rich) Gregory, Saydi Flynn, Josh Flynn and Jared Flynn, Bobby (Karen) Groce; great great nieces and nephews, Morgan, Jenna, Owen, Hope, Ottis, Olivia, Makayla and Chase; special brothers and sisters, Sylvia and Junior Rigney, Ralph and Polly Groce of Albany, KY, Donnie and Mary Silvers, Ovadean Guffey, and a very special friend, Mike Guffey, all of New Castle. Also her beloved dog Mercedes, and a host of church friends, far and near.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny; her parents; her in-laws, Henry and Lizzie Foster, and several brothers and sisters in law.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in New Castle with Pastors Donnie Silvers and Lannie Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the church and an hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 131 S. 26th St., New Castle, IN 47362. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
