Sue Wills

June 15, 1931 — April 17, 2016

On Sunday, April 17, 2016, Sue Wills, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a brief illness at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Sue was born June 5, 1931 to Edith and Lowell Moffitt in Rush County. Sue grew up in Spiceland, Indiana and graduated from Spiceland High School in 1949. Sue was a 7th generation birthright member of Spiceland Friends Church. Sue was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother until her three sons reached high school age and then went to work for Draper Shade and Screen Company and retied after 27 years of service.

Sue lived in the Spiceland area her entire life. She was a wonderful cook and was well known for many of her recipes in the Friends Church cook books. She was active in the Spiceland Friends Church Fellowship and served on several committees. Sue sang in the choir until she was no longer physically able. Sue was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs fan; she would often wear a Chicago Cubs t-shirt while watching the games on television and also personally attended a game at Wrigley field where she obtained several of the player’s autographs.

Sue is survived by her son, Jon L. (Susan) Willis; sister-in-law, Betty Moffitt; stepsons, Ed (Cindy) Wills, and Jim (Teresa) Wills; stepdaughter, Barbara J. Wills; grandsons, Matthew (Megan) Willis and Aaron (Kristy) Willis; granddaughter, Stephanie Willis; step grandchildren, Alice Wills, Andrew Wills, Nathaniel Wills, Kylie Chrismond, Courtney Newhall, Krislyn Wiens, Caleb Cleek; niece, Lisa (Brad) Knotts; nephew, Ron (Linda) Moffitt; several great grandchildren; a great niece and a great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Moffitt and father, Lowell Moffitt; two husbands, Doyle E. Willis and James R. Wills; two brothers, Jean Moffitt and Max Moffitt two sons, Terry D. Willis and Gene B. Willis; a daughter-in-law, Diane M. Willis; a stepdaughter, Carole Brewer; and a nephew David Moffitt.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral services will be Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the Spiceland Friends Church. Burial will be held at a later date in Circle Grove Cemetery.
