Susan Kay Gaylor

Susan Kay (Coffman) Gaylor, 73, a resident of New Castle passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Henry Community Health. She was born October 6, 1949 in Fort Wayne to the late Gerald Douglas and Nano (Honeck) Coffman.

Susan was a 1968 graduate Fort Wayne North Side High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana State University. She was a retired social worker and belonged to the League of Women Voters. A lover of animals, Susan volunteered at the Henry County Humane Society and was a part of several animal rights groups. She enjoyed attending class reunions, bird feeding and playing piano. An avid gardener, she also loved art and traveling with her family, especially to Japan.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 50 years, Bruce Gaylor, whom she married June 17, 1972; two sons: Geoff Gaylor of Lafayette and Justin (Seira) Gaylor of Indianapolis; two grandchildren: Thomas and Elizabeth Gaylor as well as one on the way; sister: Virginia Creek of Denver Colorado; brother: Douglas (Peggy) Coffman of Eugene, Oregon; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Cossett Crowther.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Gary McManus officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Saturday.
