Susan Marie Irelan

Susan Marie Irelan, 68, sadly passed this weekend on June 16, 2024. Daughter of the late Kenneth Calhoun and Carolyn (Jester) VanSkyock. 

Susan Graduated from South Side High School in Muncie, Indiana before becoming a department manager at Kmart of Muncie for fifteen years. Susan also became the manager of the Village Pantry in Hartford City, where she worked for many years before joining the staff at Dr. Lawton’s Medical Office. She also worked as a bail bondman at Goodwin Bail Bonds for many years. 

 Susan enjoyed reading, solving word puzzles, and watching westerns. Susan was also a fantastic bowler, winning several small competitions. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her plants. She raised chickens and loved her dogs. She also had a particular fondness for hummingbirds. Susan was a member of the Eagles, post #933, and the Muncie Amvets #12.

She is survived by her significant other, Steve Larrimore; brother, Kenny Calhoun; sister, Mary (Dale) Montgomery; a special niece Amanda (Jason) Barbosa; a special nephew, Matt (Cheyenne) Montgomery; a special Aunt, Marie (Gene) Moody; as well as several other nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her close friend, Shawn Adams.

As well as her parents, Susan is proceeded in death by her husband Norman Irelan.

Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 27th at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Brad Hacker officiating.
