Susan Lorene Shelton, 85, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Henry County Hospital following an extended illness. She was born September 3, 1924 in Clinton County, KY the daughter of Edward and Clyda (Dickens) Mills.

Lorene was a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church in New Castle. She owned and operated Shelton’s Coffee Shop in Pershing for several years. She was a great cook and loved her pets.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son: Roger (wife: Annmarie) Shelton of Chesterfield, two step grandchildren: Jeanne Bibby and Austin Barnett, five nieces: Sharon Bryant of New Castle, Mary (husband: Donnie) Silvers of New Castle, Norma Jean (husband: Jimmie) Hill of CA, Cindy (husband: John ) Neal and Melanie (husband: Jimmy) Johnson both of New Castle, two nephews: James (wife: Linda) Marlow of New Castle, Wayne Marlow of New Castle; several grand nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Flossie Howard of New Castle, Barbara Daffron of New Castle.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: James W. Shelton in 2003; grandparents who raised her: Berletta and Ferdinand Dickens; a brother: James Mills; and a sister: Reba Marlow.

Services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Donnie Silvers officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church 131 S 26th Street New Castle, IN 47362 with envelopes available at the funeral home.
