Sylvia A. Rigney

Sylvia A. Rigney, 91, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 07, 2025 at her residence. She was born June 4, 1933 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Neal) Foster.

Sylvia was a valiant, self-educated, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She would help anyone in need and loved caring for others. Sylvia was a longtime faithful member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in New Castle where she sang in the choir, did the church cleaning and provided many church dinners. She was a wonderful baker and loved cooking, sewing and quilting. In her earlier years, she worked at the Henry County Hospital in the kitchen and Eaton’s Market.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Judy Rigney, Michael (Georgia) Rigney, Priscilla Robin Willson; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Groce and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Rigney, Jr.; a son, Danny Darryl Rigney; siblings, Kenneth, Russell, Donnie, Sam, J.T., Marvin and Theo Foster, Goldie Denney, Lillis Stonecipher, Audrey Patton and Betty Gibson.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Melissa Foster officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 131 S. 26th Street New Castle, IN 47362.
