Tamara J. Hendrix

Tamara J. Hendrix, 78, of New Castle passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born November 15, 1944 in Richmond to the late Gene V. Ammerman and Mary Lois (Houser) Ammerman.

Tamara attended Mt Summit High School and was a former member of the Mt Summit Christian Church. She enjoyed genealogy, loved her time in her flower garden tending to her flowers but hated pulling weeds. Tamara especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She traveled to many parts of the world during her husband’s 20-year Air Force Career.

Tamara is survived by her husband of 61 years, George “Duane” Hendrix; two children, Terry (Judy) Hendrix of Buckley, Washington and Chris (Carol) Hendrix of Brandon, Florida; Grandchildren; Dakotah (Janelle) Hendrix, Tammy (Kris) Kuykendall, Sam Hendrix, Matt (Ella) Hendrix along with four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ron Ammerman of New Castle, Phillip (Juanita) Ammerman of Anderson and Tim Ammerman of Indianapolis as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Phil Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial continuations may be made to the American Stroke Association.
