Tammy Lea Nixon, 55, passed away Saturday June 18, at her residence. She was born in New Castle, Indiana to the late Delmer and Esther (Davis) Hunter.
Tammy was currently employed by Eastern Indiana Federal Credit Union where she has served for the past 15 years. She had also been employed by Brooks Foods in the Quality Control Department. Although a working mom, Tammy remained thoughtful, and made each of her children and her family feel special. Tammy loved animals, especially her fur babies. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as gardening and working in her yard, as well as antiquing and auctions. Tammy was also an avid fan of football and racing.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Decker of Springport; a son, Brandon (Megan) Nixon of Lafayette; a daughter, Brittney (fiancé Nate Bowers) Nixon of West Lafayette; grandchildren; Logan and Amelia Nixon both of Lafayette; siblings, Lonnie (Mary) Leffew of Middletown; Debbie Thornburgh of New Castle; LuAnn Gordon of New Castle; Cheryl Luera of Weimer, TX; Mark Hunter of New Castle; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, one great-great niece and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Tammy was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Robert Gordon.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bill Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in Springport Cemetery.
