Lena “Louise” Simpson, 72, of Greenwood, passed away on Friday October 11, 2024, at her home. She was born on July 30, 1952, in New Castle to the late James R. and Lena M. (Denney) Simpson.
Louise had a warm welcoming spirit that touched many people. She never met a stranger during her life. Louise always looked up to her older sister Rita and could be found following Rita and her friends around. They spent summers going to the skating rink in New Castle and attending Vacation Bible School at Westview Church of the Nazarene. She worked as a CNA for several nursing homes in New Castle and eventually retired from Imperial Products in Richmond after her health started failing.
She could be found outside enjoying the sun while working with her plants. Louise was a member of several plant clubs over the years most recently in Greenwood until she was unable to attend. She enjoyed fishing even though she didn’t like to touch the worms. Being around the water and swimming was one of her many joys but at the top of them all was her passion for rummage sales and Goodwill. Louise also enjoyed doing puzzles and watching her soap operas.
Louise loved watching Paul Stanley on Sundays and reading her Bible and this past Monday October 7, 2024, she found the Glory of the Lord when she was Baptized surrounded by her family.
Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren brought great joy to Louise.
Louise is survived by her children, Kim (Sean) Douglas, Teresa Hyatt, Jamie (Sabrina) Coffman and Richeal Dinkins; grandchildren, Kayla (William) Ross, Jacqlyn Nicholson, Christopher Coffman and Faith Rector; great grandchildren, Bentley Nicholson, Jedidyah Neal, Aliyah Hall and Julihan Hall; sister, Rita Custer and brother, Michael Simpson.
In addition to her parents Louise is preceded in death by a brother, Marty Simpson and sister, Betty Burnett.
