Terry Lee Ewing, 78, of Mount Summit passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born December 23, 1945 in Troy, Ohio to the late Lloyd Eugene and Dorothy Marie (Oswalt) Ewing.
Terry's dedication to public service is evident through his roles as a volunteer fireman at the Mooreland Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chief for two terms. He was a longtime board member of the Mooreland Free Fair and in retirement, he spent ten years working as a park ranger for the Henry County Memorial Park and was a member of New Castle First Christian Church. Terry's life was characterized by kindness and generosity. He enjoyed fishing, attending sporting events, and loved supporting his grandchildren in all their activities. Working at Tom Cherry Muffler for over 37 years, Terry's dedication and work ethic were evident in his longstanding commitment to his job. His ability to connect with people effortlessly, never meeting a stranger, left a lasting impact on those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia L. Ewing; children, Gerald Ewing and Azure (Johnny) Cross; grandchildren, Austin (Kymberleigh) Cross, Madison Cross and Mallory Cross; great grandchildren, Phoenix, Aurora and Asher Cross; siblings, Nancy (Lloyd) Forry, Melvin (Rachel) Ewing and Beverly (Harry) Bowman and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Myron, Roger and Jack Ewing and a sister, Sandra Hemmelgarn.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Ronn Oren officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Summit Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
