Thelma Patricia Laurie

Thelma Patricia Laurie, 81, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Henry Community Health. She was born May 11, 1943, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Ivy and Cartha (Braswell) Smith.

A 1962 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School, she was a homemaker most of her life. She loved spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Kim Laurie of Terre Haute, Sam Laurie Jr. of Terre Haute, and Matt Laurie of New Castle; grandchildren, MacKenzie Laurie, Braylon Perkins, Abbi Prince, Jacelyn Laurie, and Wyatt Laurie; also, a sister, Beth Gibson of New Castle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Laurie; two sisters, Bethel Ward and Betty Neal; two brothers, Kenneth Smith and Jr. Smith.
