Thelma Moore

January 31, 1919 — October 17, 2010

The memory of Thelma Marjorie Moore, 91, of New Castle, is treasured in our minds and hearts as a beautiful, loving woman who adorned herself inwardly with God's graces and the Spirit's fruit! The daughter of the late Arthur Clement Moore, Sr., and Millicent Inez Moore, she was born in Barbados, West Indies on January 31, 1919, and grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She graduated from Harbord Collegiate Institute before moving to Jamaica, Queens, New York. Thelma is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Arthur Clement Moore, Jr. Miss Moore retired from DCA Food Industries, where she worked in their Marketing Division. An avid cook who loved to entertain, she had her own catering and wedding cake business for many years. Thelma’s biggest passion was traveling by sea, and she visited countries in Central America, the Caribbean and Europe. She also traveled to Mexico and several states, including Hawaii. In later years she loved three things; her family, her Lord and His church, and the Henry County Senior Citizen Center. Thelma loved the congregation at St. Anne Catholic Church, where she was a member, and actively participated in the St. Anne Society. She considered worship and fun times with her church friends the most important times of the week. She is survived by her sister, Beryl Moore Poindexter of New Castle; nieces, Stacey Maupin Torres of New Castle, Allyson C. Moore of East Orange, NJ and Reva A. Moore of St. Albans, NY White (husband, Eugene); brother-in-law, Porter Poindexter of New Castle; cousin, Isabell M. Ware of Chicago, IL; special friends, David & Jeanette Carlson of New Castle, Dr. Frances Walker of Alamogordo, NM , “Rudy”; and a host of loving family and friends.
