Thomas Schaeffer

Thomas “Tom” E. Schaeffer, 57, of Knightstown passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Hancock Regional Hospital following an extended illness. He was born October 4, 1951 in New Castle the son of the late Paul Robert and Mary (Littell) Schaeffer.

Tom enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. He was an avid sports fan especially softball. He loved spending time with his grand kids. Tom enjoyed camping with his family and spending time with them around the campfire. He was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife: Tina of Knightstown; five children: Tony Schaeffer of Greenfield; Mike (wife: Crystal) Schaeffer of Camby, IN; Melissa Schaeffer of Greenfield; Allison (husband: Justin) Cart of Greenfield; and Tyler (wife: Melissa) Outt of Knightstown; five grandchildren: Andrew Patrick of Greenfield; Daymin, Bailey and Prescot Outt of Knightstown; Tristan Schaeffer of Camby; four siblings: Gary Schaeffer of Knightstown; Sue (husband: Paul) Loveall of Carthage; Barb (husband: Jeff) Gustin of Knightstown; John Schaeffer of Greenfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 26, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Roger Campbell officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Knightstown American Legion. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday, June 25.
