Timothy Alfred Hall

April 1, 1948 — July 23, 2024

Lincolnton, NC

Tim Hall, 76, of Lincolnton, NC passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2024. He was born on April 1, 1948, a son of the late Alfred and Avis (Lake) Hall.

Tim was born in Flint MI, and then his parents moved to New Castle, IN for work. He graduated from New Castle high school and continued on a lifelong journey of education. Getting his degree in ministry from Harding University, finishing his master's degree at Huntington University (just to find out he couldn’t get his diploma because he didn’t have his bachelor’s degree). Went to graduate from Ball State University with his Bachelors; stayed on as an adjunct faculty. All the while raising his family and being a full-time minister.

Tim met Vikki Lucinda Saunders; an unlikely pairing. Cindy (Vikki) was a Christian and Tim, well, he wasn’t. They fell in love despite the differences. Cindy introduced him to Jesus, and he just couldn’t get enough. He loved to study the bible and learn as much as he could about the love of Jesus. The more he learned the more he wanted to share. In 1977 he enrolled in the CCP program at Harding College (now University) in Searcy, AR, to cram a 4 year ministry degree in just 2 years. He was able to practice preaching at a little country church in Thida. He says that those were the best 2 years of his life.

From there he went to minister to Churches of Christ in 7 states: AR, KY, WI, IL, Iowa, IN and NC for nearly 45 years. One of his favorite ministries was the Prison Ministry. He had a way with relating to people in all walks of life, especially those with a broken spirit.

Along with keeping up with his public speaking, he was a Member of Toast Masters.

Tim picked up his guitar when he was 15 and couldn’t put it down. He had 2 favorite pass times: playing his guitar and reading. Both of which he did for his children and grandchildren.

Tim made the characters of a book come to life. The Chronicles of Narnia and the Tell-Tale Hart was a favorite of his children, just to name a couple.

Tim also was a big fan of Bob Dylan. One song that he sang to every grandchild was a song called “Man gave a name to all the animals”. He would have them guess the animal that was being described in the song. This would bring on many giggles.

Tim and Cindy loved and taught their 5 children all about God and our salvation through Jesus Christ. They didn’t stop there, they continued with their grandchildren and their great grandchildren. Because of their love of God, generations have shared the same love. We pray it will continue on for all the generations. To quote the song

 “The Blessing”

May His favor be upon you

And a thousand generations

And your family and your children

And their children

Tim and Cindy’s legacy to us left here on earth; is that they shared their faith.
