We are heartbroken to announce that Tony Roy West (Papaw) was tragically taken from his family on Friday, August 11, 2023.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Fairchild; his children, Kisha Horan and Christopher (Aly) West; his three grandchildren, Reese Horan, Rory Horan, and Leyton West; his partner, Michelle Goodwin; his sister, Lora (David) McMullen; and his former wife, Stacy West (Mamaw).
Tony was born in New Castle, Indiana in 1964. He graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1983 and honorably served in the US Air Force from 1983 to 1987. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in 2005 while working full-time as a machine repairman at Daimler Chrysler. He earned a law degree from the IU McKinney School of Law in 2008 and worked at the Workmen’s Compensation Board of Indiana from 2008 to 2011. He opened TR West Legal, PC in 2012 and has been practicing law independently since.
Tony had a curious mind and a relentless desire to learn. He had various hobbies but lately preferred to fish and play pool. He liked to cook, play guitar, listen to music, read, work on his property, and take his dog, Luther, for morning walks. He cherished spending time with his beloved grandchildren. They were his source of joy, happiness, and pride.
Tony was unwaveringly dedicated to the care and protection of his family. Although we are grief-stricken to lose him, we are thankful for his life and for the love and care he showed us every day. We are proud of the remarkable man he was and are grateful to have had the honor of calling him son, dad, and papaw. He is missed more deeply than words can ever express. His tireless love, devotion, and care will live through his family always.
At Tony’s request, there will be no public services. He was dedicated to the education and development of his grandchildren.
