V Gladys Rush

V. Gladys Rush, 94, of New Castle, passed away February 12, 2012. Born March 26, 1917 in Fayetteville, IN, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Roberts.

She married Frank O. Rush July 4, 1936 and they then moved to New Castle. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1992. Mrs. Rush was a member and Sunday school teacher for many years at the Church of Christ located on 103 South. She enjoyed her family, reading, traveling, and quilting.

Mrs. Rush graduated from Fayetteville High School and received her cosmetologist’s license and she was also an instructor at the Amber’s School of Beauty Culture in Muncie, IN. She was the owner of Rush’s Colonial Beauty Salon and later a state inspector for the Indiana Cosmetologists Licensing Department.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, 3406 S. Memorial Dr., New Castle, IN. The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday with Carl Wright officiating. Burial will take place at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Church of Christ, State Road 103 South, New Castle, IN 47362.

Mrs. Rush is survived by a son, James D. (wife, Karen) Rush of Huntington, IN; and two daughters, Janet R. (husband, D. Perry) Achor of West Lafayette, IN and Donna J. Rush of Clermont, FL. Mrs. Rush has four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Rex, Ollan, Forrest, Raymond, Thomas and Helen Roberts.
