Vannas “Van” W. Brown, age 68, of Bedford and formerly of New Castle, passed away at his residence, Monday, February 4, 2013. He was born July 17, 1944 in Plant City, Florida to the late Vester and Jean Brown.
He retired from Henry County Memorial Hospital in 1990 following 20 years of service. He had previously worked at Modernfold Corporation and Ingersoll Steel. Van was a member of the VFW and American Legion, Eagles and Moose Lodge. He attended the United Pentecostal Church in New Castle. Van loved fishing with his grandchildren and also enjoyed hunting, traveling, gardening and auctioning.
Survivors include his wife, Miriam (Acker) Brown whom he married February 28, 1994; children, Anna Brown Barrett (companion, Scott) of MI, Vannas Brown of Indianapolis, Kristi Brown of OK, Stephen (wife, Kathy) Franklin of Nashville, TN, Mark (wife, Anne Marie) Franklin of Dayton, OH, Valerie (husband, Tom) Lomax of Nashville, TN and Jennifer (husband, Kevin) Kidd of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, V. Wayne Brown of CO, Alex Barrett, Jacob Barrett both of MI, Kyle McGary of Indianapolis, Hannah (husband, Tom) Wiser of Nashville, TN, Jared (wife, Mary) Lomax of Nashville, TN, Abigail, Natalie, Judith, Evan, Gloria, Myra, Opal and Pearl Lomax of Nashville, TN, Sarah, Wyatt and Adam Franklin of Dayton, Levi, Zeke, Isaac and Aaron Kidd of Nashville, TN; a great grandson, Connor Lomax of Nashville, TN; two brothers, David Michael (wife, Janice) Brown of New Castle and Jeff (wife, Teresa) Brown of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Buck; great grandchild, Aiden Wiser.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February, 9, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. You may express condolences or share a memory of Van at
