Verna E. Catron, age 75, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born September 11, 1935 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Ale and Dicy (Rigney) Watson.
She was employed at New Castle Community Schools as a custodian for many years and was later employed at Sears in New Castle until its closing. She was a member of the Spiceland Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Charlie Frank Catron of New Castle; a daughter, Tamara (husband, David) Davenport of Hanover, IN; a son, Trebby (wife, Jean) Catron of Topeka, IN; five grandchildren, Alicia, Randy, Charlie, and Melinda Catron and David Gabriel Davenport; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin (wife, Kathleen) Bridgeman of Monticello, KY and Hershel (wife, Doris) Watson of Hagerstown, IN; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Smith and Lilly Chriswell; three brothers, Willard Watson, Edward Watson and James Rigney.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Gene Bennett and Frank Wood officiating.
