Vickey Sue Weaver

Vickey Sue Weaver, age 72 passed away at her home after an extended illness with her loving family by her side. She was born on December 15, 1951 in New Castle, Indiana to Harvey and Vela (Southerland) Denney. She was a devoted wife of almost 44 years to Kenneth Weaver, whom she married on April 25, 1980, was a lifelong resident of New Castle and a member of Westview Church of the Nazarene.

Vickey graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1970, obtained a certificate from Indiana Business College and worked as typesetter for The Courier Times until 1985 when she focused on her life’s most important work as a loving mother, full-time homemaker, and caregiver to not only her children, but also her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, grandchildren, and the children of family friends and neighbors. Vickey was very loyal and when she made a commitment to a task or joined an organization, she saw it through to completion. She was a years’ long member of the local American Business Women’s Association and TOPS groups where her participation and attendance at meetings only ceased due to the progression of her illness. She nurtured friendships that developed from her participation in these clubs and common interests. Vickey loved to bake and was well-known for her sweet treats and entered several award-winning recipes to The Courier Times throughout the years. She also loved to go for drives with her husband and sons looking for unique finds in rummage sales and flea markets.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth; three sons Clint (Dana), Chad (Holly), Cliff (Samantha); brother Mike (Gerri) Denney; sister Jeana (Richard) Alspaugh; grandchildren Madison, Molly, Harvey, Kit, and Dash; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, lifelong friend Joan Cargile, and many other friends who were blessed to know Vickey.

The family would like to thank Henry Community Health Hospice, especially Nikki, for their care and support which enabled Vickey to remain at home and as independent as possible.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
