Viola F. Camplin

Viola F. (Reed) Camplin, age 100, of Wilkinson went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born April 21, 1924 to the late Luke and Cynthia Adeline (Crouch) Reed.

Viola lived her life as a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Following graduation from Markleville High School, she worked with her twin sister at Delco Remy. On June 15, 1947, she married Forrest R. Camplin and they were lifelong members of the Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church. Viola was a homemaker and always put her family first, leading by example of daily Bible studies and prayers. She loved to memorize Bible verses and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Viola was always busy crafting or hand sewing yoyo quilts and pillows, making and giving away hundreds through the years. She was also very well known for her apple dumplings which everyone loved. 

She is survived by her daughters, Gloria “Jeannie” Jones and Rita Reuter; son-in-law, Timothy Maley; grandchildren, Carrie Douglas, Ben Noland, David (Kristen) Noland, Thomas (Stormie) Maley, Amy (Andrew) Newport and Amanda (Craig) Sorenson; great grandchildren, Clara Grace, Cole and Caleb Douglas, Everly Elaine Noland, Logan Maley, Will, Ben and Abby Newport, John and Matthew Sorenson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Forrest R. Camplin; daughter, Mary Maley; granddaughter, Sarah Maley; sons-in-law, Craig Jones and John Reuter; siblings, Roy, Orville, Ivan and John Reed, Gladys Brown; twin sister, Violet Mock and a brother-in-law, Eugene Camplin.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Glen Oaks Health Campus staff for the loving care Viola received. 

Services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Allen Collier officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
