Virginia B. Boyd

Virginia Bernice Boyd, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 4, 2016. Virginia was a beautiful, sweet and classy woman of God, who loved her husband and children.

Born on April 26, 1924, Virginia was a lifelong New Castle resident. She worked for many years at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana as a secretary. She then worked and retired from the New Castle Public Library. She enjoyed reading and assisting young children in their studies.

Virginia graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1943. She married the love of her life, Archie A Boyd on November 6, 1942 in Noblesville, Indiana. The couple was blessed with six children, raising two additional children. Archie preceded her in death on Oct 4, 1984, along with her daughter, Toni Lee Boyd Yon on July 23, 1970.

Virginia was a devoted member of Bethel A.M.E. Church and was very active in services there until her illness.

Surviving her are her children, Mary E. Boyd Lane, Michael Boyd (Michelle), Trudi Boyd Howard (Johnny), Robert Boyd (Doris), Cheryl Boyd Misher, John Boyd (Teresa) and Toni M. Boyd Evans, along with 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild (Jace).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Arbor Hospice (Pallative Care), 989 Spaulding SE, Ada, Michigan, 49301.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Bethel A.M.E. Church in New Castle with Reverend Hallie Tripp officiating. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
