Virginia Lee "Ginger" Simmonds

Virginia Lee “Ginger” Simmonds, 73, a resident of New Castle passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was born July 19, 1950 in Anderson to the late Dr. James F. and Thelma (Dawson) Simmonds.

A 1968 graduate of Daleville High School, Ginger retired from the US Air Force where she served as a dental assistant for 26 years. She attended the Christian Church in Milton and her hobbies included knitting and sewing.

Survivors include a brother: Christopher Simmonds and close friends: Annemarie Paul and Ruth Ann Conroy as well as her beloved dog, Bear.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lt. Col. Scott Simmonds.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 5, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Scott Moistner officiating. Military rites will be conducted by contingents of the US Air Force, American Legion and the VFW. Burial will take place at Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie at a later date. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Humane Society, 11 Midway Dr., New Castle, IN 47362.
