W. Hurchel Thompson

July 15, 1939 — August 23, 2009

W. Hurchel Thompson, age 70, of Spiceland, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 in Henry County Hospital following an extended illness. He was born July 15, 1939 in Waynesburg, KY, a son of the late Willie T. and Malissie (Reynolds) Thompson.

Hurchel retired from Draper Inc. in 2003 following 40 years of service. A member of Liberty Baptist Church in Dunreith, he enjoyed gospel music, gardening, hunting, and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his dog, Sam.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of over 47 years, Patty (Kettler) Thompson of Spiceland; a daughter, Brenda L. (husband, Gary) Neal of Spiceland, and a son, Steven R. (wife, Melinda) Thompson of Spiceland; six grandchildren, Drew and Tori Asberry, Wyatt and Josie Thompson, Josh and MaKayla Neal; a great granddaughter, Wynter Asberry; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roby, Harry and Russell Thompson; two sisters, Marie Hattery and Eva Mangan.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Larry Delon and Chris Gammello officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hinsey-brown.com .
