Wallace Fairchild

Wallace Fairchild, age 85, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Henry County Hospital. He was born August 8, 1928 in Monticello, Kentucky, to the late Fount and Minnie (Slagle) Fairchild.

He retired from Rose City Packing in New Castle where he delivered meat for over 30 years. He had formerly driven a truck hauling livestock for his brother A.J. He was a member of the Spiceland Church of the Nazarene where he always had a quarter or piece of candy for the children. Wallace enjoyed restoring old trunks, gardening, mowing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include a son, Danny (Faye) Fairchild of New Castle; daughter, Joyce (Don) Lacy of New Castle; four grandchildren, Chad and Hope Fairchild, Donnie (Kristen) Lacy and Sally (Chad) Carlton; four great grandchildren, Fayth, Hunter, Angel and Zach; two step great grandchildren, Taylor and Blake; siblings, Ollie (Bill) Lee, Hershel (Donna) Fairchild and Dave Fairchild, all of New Castle; sisters-in-law, Martha Fairchild of Lewisville, Martha Fairchild of Spiceland, Jeannie Fairchild of Spiceland and Mary Fairchild of TX; brother-in-law, Harold "Dink" Huffman of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Irene Fairchild in 2012; brothers, Parker, Bob, Dewey, A.J. and Dean Fairchild; sisters, Onely Huffman, Gladys Nosler and Glenna Fairchild; sisters-in-law, June Fairchild and Wanda Fairchild.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the funeral home.
