Wallace "Wally" Sandford Hanson

Wallace “Wally” Sandford Hanson, 93, of New Castle passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. He was born April 14, 1930 in Baudette, Minnesota to the late Benjamin and Grace (Woollett) Hanson.
He was a 1947 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. At the age of 49, Wally started his own business. He loved fishing and playing golf. After 65 years of age, Wally had 6 holes in one.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Judy Alexander Hanson; daughter, Ceil Martin; son, Robert (Dawn) Hanson; grandchildren, Christopher (Kayli) Hanson, Alan (Sarah) Lyon, Patrick Hanson, Spenser (Abigail) Hanson, Eric Hanson, Amanda (Cameron) Mace and Cooper Hanson; 11 great grandchildren; a special sister, Joyce Blackwell; several nieces and nephews; and a special brother in law and family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Daniel Hanson; brothers, Donald and Bernard Hanson; and a sister, Marjorie Gundlach.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Thursday, April 20th at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes, 1550 Crystal Dr, Suite 1300 Arlington, VA 22202.
