Walter Bruce West, age 58, of New Castle, passed away Saturday January 3, 2009. Bruce was born on August 23, 1950 in New Castle, the beloved son of the late Luid Russell and Gracie Mae West.
He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1972 during the Vietnam War. Bruce worked at Allegheny Steel retiring after 23 years of service.
He is survived by his daughters, Tacey R. Woollard (husband: John) of New Castle, Ginger McCracken (husband: Paul) of Dayton, OH, his son, Bruce Shane West (wife: Amy) of Greenfield, brother, Clay Oliver West, sisters: Shirley Jean Robinson, Vesta Faye Spicer (husband: Bill), 6 grand children and several nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents: Russell and Mae West, his brother: Luid T. West, brother in law: Howard "Bud" Robinson, and nephews: Michael B. Spicer and Danny E. Robinson.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions and donations may be made to Star Financial Bank, 403 Parkview Dr., New Castle, IN 47362, and the Walter B.
