Wanda Kathrine Sampley, age 75 of New Castle, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 19, 1936 in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Marvin and Helen (Luellen) Brown.
She was a 1954 graduate of Richmond High School. She attended Whittier Lane Baptist Church and was a member of the “lunch bunch.” She was formerly a member of the homemakers club and was also a member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie S. Sampley and Melinda K. (husband, Doug) Poindexter both New Castle; three grandchildren, Alisha (husband, Johnny) Burris, Brandi (husband, Justin) Jones and Courtney Poindexter; five great grandchildren, Jayden and Jarren Jones, Jarret Luellen, Madison Ervin and McKinley Burris; one sister, Mary Ellen Reyman; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry D. Sampley in 2000; three brothers, Donald, Dale and Otis Brown.
Graveside Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Green Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Frank Wood officiating. Friends may call from 10-12 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
