Waunita ‘Jean” Starbuck, 97, of Kennard, passed away on Friday January 5, 2024, surrounded by her family at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on May 4, 1926, in Greensboro to the late Orval and Ida (Shephard) Williams.
On July 20, 1946, Jean married the love of her life Glen Starbuck. This would start their journey of 77 years together. Jean and Glen spent all 77 years living in the same house in Kennard. She was a sweet loving lady that lived a servant’s life, spending most of her time helping others. Jean was known for sending greeting cards to everyone and making her chocolate cake with caramel icing and taking them to friends and family. She was a lifelong member of Kennard Friends Church.
Jean is survived by her husband of 77 years, Glen Starbuck of Kennard; daughters, Glenna (Ron) Womack and Jan (Bob) Lines both of Kennard; grandchildren, Kami (Brett) Doubman of Kennard, Molly (Jeff) Finch of Tipton and Ross (Elizabeth) Lines of Martinsville; 5 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her siblings, Clark (Dema) Williams, Basil “Hoop: (Gladys) Williams, Herbert “Peal” (Marguerite) Williams, Elizabeth “Eib” (Keith) Garner, Fannie “Sis” (Bill) Levi and Geraldine “Deanie” (Elmer) Goldey.
Services will be at 11:00 am Thursday January 11, 2024, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Bob Lines officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday January 10, 2024, at the funeral home.
