Wayne Bogue, 80, of Spiceland, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Henry Community Health. He was born November 3, 1942 in New Castle, a son of the late Ernest Kenneth and Goldie Cornelia (Charlton) Bogue.
A member of the Class of 1961 at Spiceland High School, Wayne was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Spiceland Friends Meeting since a young age, served over 25 years as a Spiceland Volunteer Firefighter, and was a past member of the Spiceland Lion’s Club and Spiceland Jaycees. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle following 39 years as a journeyman electrician. He was also a member of UAW Local #371.
Always very involved in any and all projects happening on the family compound, he continuously kept a watchful eye over his family. Being a true outdoorsman and lover of nature kept him outside mowing, trimming, picking up sticks, birdwatching, and gardening. He enjoyed making birdhouses, birdfeeders, and butterfly houses, and watching all critters on his property as well as sitting at the table at Mr. Fuel, drinking coffee with his friends.
Protective, devoted family man, and always there to help in time of need are just a few ways to describe Wayne. A proud veteran, and very patriotic, he thoroughly enjoyed volunteering each year at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with their Stockings for Soldiers program.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 61 years, Pat (Strunk) Bogue of Spiceland; two daughters, Linda Emerson of Spiceland and Mandy (Marcus) Boyd of Spiceland; four grandchildren, Zach Emerson of Anderson, Alyse Emerson of Spiceland, Taylor and Aubrey Boyd, both of Spiceland; a brother, Kenneth (Jeannene) Bogue of Fountaintown; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ken Emerson; and a sister, Wilma West.
Visitation will be from 4:30-8:00 p.m., Monday, August 21, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Hinsey-Brown with Eric Bowman and Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW, along with a contingent from the U.S. Air Force.
