Wayne Martin Robbins

Wayne Martin Robbins, 77, of Cambridge City, Indiana passed peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born March 30, 1939 in Rush County, Indiana to the late Robert Nelson and Della Garnet (Hitchel) Robbins.

Wayne was a 1957 graduate of Orange High School in Fayette County and attended Ball State University in Muncie. He was previously employed at AVCO Corp. in Richmond 1959-1961, Omar Bakery 1961-1965, Sears & Roebuck 1966-1979, and was a bus driver for Western Wayne School Corp. for 30 years. He served in the Army Reserves 1957-1965. Wayne was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle where he served in the past as a Board Member and a Sunday School Teacher. He has been on the Advisory Board in Jackson Township, Wayne County. Wayne was an official for Volleyball and Track & Field since 1990. He received the Distinguished Service Award from IIAA (Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Association) Dist. 4. A nature lover, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bird watching. He had also raised Beagles in his younger years.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rebekah (Greene) Robbins, whom he married December 20, 1959 two sons: Tim (Karen) Robbins of Gurnee, IL and Chad (Jennifer) Robbins of Holland, OH; one daughter: Gretchen (Mark) Harrison of Cambridge City; ten grandchildren: MaKayla and Karley Robbins, both of Gurnee, IL, Dustin (Jessica) Robbins and Kiersten Robbins, both of Connersville, Justin (Amber) Harrison of Cambridge City, Hannah, Noah and Olivia Robbins, all of Holland, OH; four great-grandchildren: Carson Moore, Nolan Robbins, Brynlee Marshall and Corbyn Harrison; brothers: Marvin (Carole) Robbins of Richmond, Floyd (Diana) Robbins of Rushville, Harry (Suzanne) Robbins of Indianapolis, and Kenny (Donna) Robbins of Rushville; one sister: Mildred (Donald) Snyder of Connersville; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and numerous friends.

Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 5, 2017 at First Church of the Nazarene in New Castle with Reverends Paul Robbins and Danny Goddard officiating. Following a meal for the family, graveside services will be held at Orange North Cemetery in Fayette County with Military Rites conducted by American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 4th at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and one hour prior to the service at the church.
