W. Carson Buck, 85, of New Castle, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Addison House in New Castle following an extended illness. He was born June 5, 1927 in Mt. Pisgah, KY the son of George and Bonnie (Pyle) Buck.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II. He retired from Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis after several years and had worked at Chrysler Corporation for 18 years prior. He served in ministry, ministering in several churches in the area over the years. He devoted his life to serving the church.
He leaves to cherish his memory three children: Helen F. Phelps of Spiceland, Bill (wife, Brenda) Buck of Knightstown, Keith (wife, Carrie) Buck of Dunreith; five grandchildren: Shane (wife, Carol) Phelps of Lewisville, Juli Phelps of Indianapolis, Dusty Phelps (fiancé, Natalie Kohnen) of Indianapolis, Heather (husband, Frederick) Hampton of Indianapolis, Travis (wife, Cassie) Mummert of Shelbyville; great grandchildren: Masen Phelps, Averi Phelps, Savannah Mummert, Karen Mummert, Emma Mummert, Xavier Hampton; three step daughters: Sue (husband, Austin) Le Duke of Biloxi, MS, Kathy Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA, and Patti (husband, Daniel) Harmon of Greenfield; eight step grandchildren; a sister: Leona Blake of Lewisville; several nieces and nephews; and Billie, a special friend from the Addison House.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Ruby in 1977, second wife: Betty in 2006; daughter: Karen Mummert in 1988; son-in-law: Steve Phelps in 2010; three sisters: Hazel Miller, Nell Dishman, and Aileen Beasley; two brothers: Robert and Ralph Champion; a half-brother: Shirley Buck.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverend Mark O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #152. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday and from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday.
