Weldon Eugene Curran

May 2, 1928 — June 5, 2014

Weldon Eugene Curran of New Castle formerly of Stillwater Oklahoma, went home to be with his Lord and Savior June Fifth after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease in the Waters of Muncie. He was born on May 2, 1928 in Pond Creek, OK as the only child of James and Meta (McIntosh) Curran.

He was raised mainly in Stillwater Oklahoma except for a brief period in California. He grew up in the motel business that his Dad ran, helping in the attached service station. They would later build the Curran Motel in Stillwater and he would take it over after the death of his father in 1954. It was there he would hire a young lady, Mary Baskerville, to be a maid at the motel, little did he know he would be meeting the love of his life for 52 years. They would begin to date and would marry on February 19th 1961. After they would sell the motel, he would go to work for Ace Hardware in Stillwater until he retired.

He would accept Christ as his personal Savior when he was 48 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Stillwater. He was fond of travel and photography and would travel through nearly thirty states, Canada, and Mexico. He also loved and collected books and old movies.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jim and Merica (Moore) Curran currently of New Castle, IN, two grandchildren Jimmy and Joshua also of New Castle, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law George and Ruth Baskerville of Arlington Texas, a cousin Shirley Hodge of Perry, OK and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Curran, his father James Curran and mother Meta Curran-Harbin.
