Wendell Worley Jones

Wendell Worley Jones, age 89, of New Castle, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born October 22, 1923, in Wayne County, Kentucky to the late John M. and Clemmie F. (Beagle) Jones.

He retired in 1989 from Chrysler Corporation following 46 years of service. A part-time carpenter, he built and remodeled many homes in the New Castle area. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, spending time with family and friends. He was also a sweeper and small appliance repairman. He married Bonnie Lee Dobbs on March 23, 1943 in New Castle, and she preceded him in death in 2003.

They are survived by their two children, Larry (Marsha) Jones of The Villages, FL; and daughter, Patricia Lee (Royal) White of Beardstown, IL; three grandsons, Chad Andrew (Lindsay) Jones of Lake Mary, FL, Jeffrey Landon White of Glen Ellen, IL and Timothy Lynn White of Beardstown, IL; two great grandchildren, Jackson Dewar and Cora Violet Jones, both of Lake Mary, FL; a sister, Jean (Jones) Akins of Elizabethtown, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Spencer, Odie and Blomad E. "Doc" Jones and two sisters, Edna Jane (Jones) Denney and Lilie Pearl (Jones) Ragan.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at the funeral home.
