Wilbur "Gene" Hendricks

Wilbur “Gene” Hendricks, age 65, of New Castle, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at The Waters of New Castle. He was born August 6, 1946 in New Castle, a son of the late Herman Glenn and Marilyn Bernadine (Marshall) Hendricks.

Gene loved walking, and walked everywhere he went. He also enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling and loved his cat “Pickles”. He loved children, enjoyed visiting his friends and family, especially his nieces and nephews.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Wilbur Gene Hendricks II of Greenwood; siblings, Steve (Billie) Hendricks of Danville, Roger (Mary Jo) Hendricks of New Castle, Glenna Warren of Bainbridge, Rodney L. Hendricks of Danville, Lillie (Earl) Chandler of New Castle; several nieces and nephews; two aunts, Barbara Wethington of New Castle, and Evelyn Hendricks of Lafayette; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; also, his special friend, Cheryl Stamper of New Castle;

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Sturgeon) Hendricks, brothers, Donald Glenn Hendricks, and Larry D. Hendricks.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the funeral home and from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
